DB hits 11,000!

As DB reaches a second big milestone and  passes 11,000 hits today, and I reflect on the joy you get out of doing something you love, it's a timely to remember the words of Steve Jobs (yes, they've been overused, overimaged on social media and quite frankly sometimes, the best are left out - so remember to check out his Stanford commencement address): don't settle.  Keep looking, kids.  Keep looking.

But most of all - thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading! nd x

Social curation: are you a tastemaker?

Fascinating article on the FT about the rise of overnight tastemakers via Tumblr, Pinterest et al: March of the Tastemakers

As a Pinterest and Tumblr user myself, it's super interesting to read about the rise of what this article labels "social curation".  You've all seen your FB newsfeed overwhelmed with updates on such and such joining Pinterest.  It's been around for a little while, but had 18m visitors last month (almost 50% up on the previous month).  I know many of you have indeed become tastemakers overnight as well.  The article poses the interesting question: is this merely a passing fad?  As I posted on a status update the other day, I simply feel exhausted by all the tumbling, pinning, twittering and blogging.  Could it be that soon other people will feel overwhelmed too?  My guess is Tumblr will reign supreme, at the top of the list (such as been the love it's felt from teenage girls) and Pinterest will stay steady with the mid-crowd.  Though I'd be keen to see the data on number of users for each site.

In the meantime, I hope you'll continue to use Devour Beauty (which is my very own social curation site) as a source of your own tastemaking - pin, tumbl away! nd x

Love the questions, live your way into the answer

"You are so young, so much before all beginning, and I would like to beg you, dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

Coveting: Boxer

I've been coveting the Reed Krakoff boxer tote for over a year now (since I first spied the version up top).  Now I am loving the vibin' yellow for spring (ok, if I was in NY) and the new metallic gem via Saks Fifth Avenue where you can also find it in python, linen, denim and all sorts of other fun colours.

Elie Tahari: favourite blues from Fall 2012

A style staple of my glamourous and oh so chic sister-in-law Stephanie, Elie Tahari is a must-have for your wardrobe. Check out the sea blues, and beautiful mulberries of Fall 2012 here.  I am digging the coat above (picture by Kelly Frammel, The Glamourai).

Missing Marc (and NY)

Perfect.  Wishing I was wearing in this in the New York spring.

Impeccable

via Elle

I've done it again.  I've refused on principle to blog Olivia P frequently.  But sometimes I can't help myself.  Impeccable.

Sharing your confidences

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence
