Meet me in the field

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I'll meet you there.

Do not be afraid.

Do not be afraid of your difficulties.  Do not wish you could be in other circumstances than you are. For when you have made the best of an adversity, it becomes the stepping stone to a splendid opportunity.

- H.P. Blavatsky

Woollahra streets

via SP

Heavily missing these Woollahra streets this month.  I love this time of year in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and that gorgeous purple - vibrant and lilac all at the same time.  Thanks SP, for making me thoroughly homesick.

Attachment drops away

via Arianna

Feeling philosophical  but this one means a lot to me at the moment.  In so many different ways.

Grace

via Arianna

Rumi is my favourite.  This quote makes me think of a beautiful set of lines from a song in Little Women (which my friend Elise appeared in a few years back in Sydney):

"Some things are meant to be, the tide turning endlessly,
the way it takes hold of me, no matter what I do..."

Tell me.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" - Mary Oliver, The Summer Day.

(Thanks Tick Tock for this one.)

Sailing

Even if you think the seas are calm, those waves can rise up any time.  Still, as my favourite meditation man Kabat Zinn says, "you can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf."

J'adore: thinking about coats

via J.Crew

Collection Ratti tile coat.  How else am I supposed to curb the pangs of jealousy that are going to emanate from me as I view glorious photos of summer (already started) from my beautiful Sydney-ites over the next few months?  Why, get on board with Fall Fashion, obvi.

My heart dances

via Arianna

It's so rare to add another quote to my list of favourites.  But when one hits you, it does.  And Rumi tends to be pretty high on the list.  It's an incredibly powerful time when you have presence of soul and a dancing heart.  It's been a while and it's good to be here.  New York, I love you.

NYFW: StyleList and NMRKT Runway Show

via me

Loved seeing one of my favourite best dressed men at the StyleList and NMRKT runway show last night, DJ Brendan Fallis (and his super stylin' GF Hannah B).  More on my favourite looks from the night to come.

Breathe it in

Feeling a little fuzzy this weekend, but this image is so vivid you can almost breathe in that lavender and inhale away all the madness.  You know I love me some deep purple.

L'Homme: Racquets down best dressed

Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler were hands down the best dressed men of the Wimbeldon, obviously.  Butler just barely eeks out Cooper.  That blue linen jacket with a smidgen of pocket square?  Next to godly.

Lisa Ho - I said no, no, no

via lisaho.com

The fashion label of our (unnecessary spending) youth is closing down.  While I've certainly seen a drop in quality and innovative design over the last few years, it's a sad day.  I fondly recall shopping for Bin's bridesmaid dresses here and the purchase of my gorgeous Galaxy print white lined jacket (which will remain a staple for years to come).  Luckily, to commiserate - there is a fire sale.  So get to a store and check out some of the (huge) discounts.

Hiatus: good for the soul

Devour Beauty has been on a bit of a hiatus thanks to many a life change of late. But rest assured we'll be back in business slowly but surely and now as a New York correspondent!

Outfit of the week: Zoe Saldana

via Jezabel

DB's big time girlcrush, Zoe Saldana has been a bit quiet on the fashion front of late, but she really stepped it up at the Star Trek promos this week in Calvin Klein Fall 2013.  Divine.

Acquisitions: a little retail therapy never hurt anyone

Sheepskin suede clutch with brass finish by Charlie Middleton

Marc Jacobs neon and neutral flats available at Quincy

Castaner Espadrilles available at Quincy

L'homme: WoodyRoo

You know how I love a man in good threads.  Today's gorgeous Paddington find is no exception - indulging in this gorgeous Sydney Autumn sun, Helicious and I stumbled across Australian men's label WoodyRoo - a refined, slim cut men's label that I want to dress every man I know in.  I love a sharp line, a bit of college prep, a gentleman's fit.  I'm dying for the olive chinos.  So if you like a bit of Thom Browne, or you love your man looking like a bit of Goss(ling) go like WoodyRoo on Facebook.

Embellishments: stone cold love

via someone's Tumblr somewhere

Let's talk about how much I want this.

Reflections: Anish Kapoor

Anish Kapoor, Museum of Contemporary Art

The world is a looking-glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. Frown at it, and it will in turn look sourly upon you; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly kind companion; and so let all young persons take their choice.”

- William Makepeace Thackeray

Sharp, bright lines

LG, rocking a burst of pink.

Green frame

Glorious Sydney (post) summer sun, silhouetting.  Reminds me of a Beatrice Coron paper cutting.

One of those days

"Don’t plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it, you got yourself a bad year. Take it from me - choke those little bad days. Choke ‘em down to nothing."

Acquisitions: sneak peak

via Quincy

Castaner Bunis.  The prettiest espadrille you might ever own.

Speaking of: stylin' men

Kite dreamer

"Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country."

A fine blue check

Fred Mulligan, well done.  Well done.  I am digging this tie, and the way it picks up the blue check.

L'Homme: Golden Boys

Ben Affleck rocked the house in a Gucci custom peak lapel three-piece tuxe in sapphire, including matching bow tie. Not to mention the killer grosgrain trim down the side of his pants, which you can see here.

Eddie Redmayne in Burberry.  A close second - in a very different style to Ben, but totes age appropriate for the Burberry model.  Speaking of Eddie - there will absolutely be a post on all his looks of late.

Bradley Cooper - need I say more? In a Tom Ford tux (sigh) made from eco-friendly materials, as part of the Green Carpet Challenge.  Speaking of Tom Ford, I did not really dig Leo's look.

Aziz Ansari in Dior Homme. Isn't he just the best? #iloveanindianfunnyman

via 00oo00
Speaking of Burberry, Damian Lewis looked pretty sharp.

I feel like this shawl lapel on Max Greenfeld is pretty interesting.

Robert Pattinson - sleek in Gucci.  I dig this lapel.  In full, here

Jeremy Renner - I have so many issues with the fact that he appears to be in the middle of growing a moustache (you know I hate Movember) but the Bourne boy from Modesto does this Dior Homme well.
