Put your heart at ease

via Arianna

I've been remiss dear reader, but as the faint breathe of spring touches the New York air, perhaps so will be time on this blog x

Speaking of: shoes, men's (summer) shoes

There is a faint smell of spring in the New York air this week - with a few days of 57 degree weather it's getting all our hopes up, and killing me softly in the process.  I long for a Sydney summer and am so sad I missed out to a trip to Cali this week because of work.  Lucky I can stare at these Rivieras and think about hot they'd look on all the sharp men I know.  Unfortunately, the photo doesn't do these justice, but my immaculate brother in Sydney has been wearing these for a while and I DIG them.  Boy has style.  Order them on Mr Porter, here - just in time for a NYC summer.  (Ok, it's still a while away but it's coming.)

Best in cotton, mesh slip-ons they sometimes perk up the colours, but the navy blue is a classic for summer.  Check out their whole range available on Mr Porter at the moment, here.

Flawless finish

Love, love this article of a father writing to his daughter from the makeup aisle via The Huffington Post: "When you have a daughter, you start to realize she's just as strong as everyone else in the house -- a force to be reckoned with, a soul on fire with the same life and gifts and passions as any man. But sitting in this store aisle, you also begin to realize most people won't see her that way. They'll see her as a pretty face and a body to enjoy. And they'll tell her she has to look a certain way to have any worth or influence."

This is my favourite:

"Naked. The world wants you to take your clothes off. Please keep them on. But take your gloves off. Pull no punches. Say what is in your heart. Be vulnerable. Embrace risk. Love a world that barely knows what it means to love itself. Do so nakedly. Openly. With abandon."

Not to mention the concept of infallible grace.  So good.

myPod: all messed up

Now I'm all messed up via YouTube

Got introduced to Tegan and Sara last year in a fit of musical education.  Love, love the soulful pop synth that is their album, Heartthrob.  Currently on my playlist?  Now I'm all messed up - take a listen above.

Feeling restless?  I am.  For some world wandering inspiration you MUST check out this beautiful list from Airows of 20 places that will make you want to run around the globe.

My top 5? (Aside from the Swiss Alps, above - ok, and basically the whole list.)

Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Fancy a weekend away?

I love a men's weekender bag - super sexy slung over the shoulder of a well-kept man.  Christmas had me searching for one as a gift, and I found the perfect one at JCrew - soft, well-worn leather - the Montague leather weekender from J.Crew.  Even better in person.

Quiet minds

Dear reader, I have been remiss in the second half of 2013.  Far too caught up in the rif raf of day to day.  NYC has almost gotten the best of me.  I'm not much for resolutions but, what for 2014?  A quiet mind and a healthy body.  And a return to beauty.  Back on the blog.
