Friday night I hit the town with the gorgeous and effervescent Marissa as her plus-one for the opening of the John Kaldor Family contemporary art gallery at the Art Gallery of NSW. There, we mingled with the art glitterati, bumped into the largest number of tall men per sq feet I have ever seen (including Glenn McGrath), heard to NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell try to be cultured, were educated by gallery Director Edmund Capon ("Inspiration, as we know, is one of the great sources of optimism") and got to see the collection of a lifetime - worth $35m, John Kaldor has donated his life's collection over +50 years to the gallery in an incredible act of philanthropy.
