Speaking of: shoes, men's (summer) shoes

There is a faint smell of spring in the New York air this week - with a few days of 57 degree weather it's getting all our hopes up, and killing me softly in the process.  I long for a Sydney summer and am so sad I missed out to a trip to Cali this week because of work.  Lucky I can stare at these Rivieras and think about hot they'd look on all the sharp men I know.  Unfortunately, the photo doesn't do these justice, but my immaculate brother in Sydney has been wearing these for a while and I DIG them.  Boy has style.  Order them on Mr Porter, here - just in time for a NYC summer.  (Ok, it's still a while away but it's coming.)

Best in cotton, mesh slip-ons they sometimes perk up the colours, but the navy blue is a classic for summer.  Check out their whole range available on Mr Porter at the moment, here.

Fancy a weekend away?

I love a men's weekender bag - super sexy slung over the shoulder of a well-kept man.  Christmas had me searching for one as a gift, and I found the perfect one at JCrew - soft, well-worn leather - the Montague leather weekender from J.Crew.  Even better in person.

NYFW: StyleList and NMRKT Runway Show

via me

Loved seeing one of my favourite best dressed men at the StyleList and NMRKT runway show last night, DJ Brendan Fallis (and his super stylin' GF Hannah B).  More on my favourite looks from the night to come.

L'Homme: Racquets down best dressed

Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler were hands down the best dressed men of the Wimbeldon, obviously.  Butler just barely eeks out Cooper.  That blue linen jacket with a smidgen of pocket square?  Next to godly.

L'homme: WoodyRoo

You know how I love a man in good threads.  Today's gorgeous Paddington find is no exception - indulging in this gorgeous Sydney Autumn sun, Helicious and I stumbled across Australian men's label WoodyRoo - a refined, slim cut men's label that I want to dress every man I know in.  I love a sharp line, a bit of college prep, a gentleman's fit.  I'm dying for the olive chinos.  So if you like a bit of Thom Browne, or you love your man looking like a bit of Goss(ling) go like WoodyRoo on Facebook.

L'Homme: Golden Boys

Ben Affleck rocked the house in a Gucci custom peak lapel three-piece tuxe in sapphire, including matching bow tie. Not to mention the killer grosgrain trim down the side of his pants, which you can see here.

Eddie Redmayne in Burberry.  A close second - in a very different style to Ben, but totes age appropriate for the Burberry model.  Speaking of Eddie - there will absolutely be a post on all his looks of late.

Bradley Cooper - need I say more? In a Tom Ford tux (sigh) made from eco-friendly materials, as part of the Green Carpet Challenge.  Speaking of Tom Ford, I did not really dig Leo's look.

Aziz Ansari in Dior Homme. Isn't he just the best? #iloveanindianfunnyman

Speaking of Burberry, Damian Lewis looked pretty sharp.

I feel like this shawl lapel on Max Greenfeld is pretty interesting.

Robert Pattinson - sleek in Gucci.  I dig this lapel.  In full, here

Jeremy Renner - I have so many issues with the fact that he appears to be in the middle of growing a moustache (you know I hate Movember) but the Bourne boy from Modesto does this Dior Homme well.

L'homme: Wizard of Oz

If any man I know could pull off this DSquared2 green velvet silk lapel jacket, well...nothing more to say.

Outfit of the week

No, for once this a male outfit of the week.  It's a couple of months old now, but I came across it and couldn't resist posting.  I'm pretty sure you can't pull this off anywhere but a red carpet.  The cut and colour of the suit are quite impeccable/incredible.

L'homme: colour (leg) block

via 00o00, my blackberry, All Things Stylish and StreetFSN

A rather debonair man asked me this weekend to help investigate the perfect pair of coloured trousers. With the above inspiration (including running into a well-dressed man in bright orange chinos, a crisp white shirt and blue v-neck sweater on the street in Woollahra) I've kept my eye out and have tracked down a few fun summer leg colours:

1. Herringbone jet chino skinny trouser in blue, orange or what I like to call, raspberry, available in winter colours here, and in summer colours instore (update your website, Herringbone!):

2.  Country Road slim chino in spearmint (also in yellow), available here.  While I dig the spearmint, I've seen the Herringbone trousers on, and I think they look to be a better cut than these.  These are probably the most casual of the bunch.

3.  JCrew sun-faded chino in 484 fit in deep peacock (or for added fun, rusty brick!) available here (and yes, JCrew now ships to Australia!)  I'm really quite in love with these, but you know I'm partial to any colour that reminds me of the Mediterranean sea.  I also dig the broken-in chino in urban slim fit in cabernet available here.  But then, nowadays I love sort of everything JCrew does - thank you, Jenna Lyons, you are the ultimate girl crush.

4.  Topman skinny chinos (sounds like a coffee order?) in nautical blue or pale burgundy available here and here, respectively.  These feel a little casual in comparison to the Herringbone and JCrew styles, but less so than the Country Road cut.

  5.  And, because you know how I love to shop in New York and you can always online shop (from left to right):
  • Alexandre Mattiusi chinos in burgundy available at Barneys,
  • Lanvin side stripe chinos in electrical blue available at Barneys, though, quite frankly: seen better here
  • Also loving Steven Alan (a fave of the NYC Duas) New Yukon pants in salmon or green at Saks.
  • But, probably my favourite on the NYC scene are Rag and Bone vintage reds available here

The winners for me?  Rag and Bone's vintage reds, JCrews sun-drenched peacock blue and subject to seeing them on, the Herringbone jet chinos in any colour.

Casual Friday: funky detailing

via my blackberry

Friend James always rocks the finer details in the office.  Last casual Friday I enjoyed this beautiful bespoke and very fun (read: slightly schoolboy) jacket with jeans and brown leather shoes.

A well dressed man: Andrew Garfield

via 00O00

Andrew Garfield rocking the red carpet and photocalls for Spiderman (which I can't wait to see, obviously) in Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Phillip Lim (be still my beating heart - it's just as good for men as it is for women) .  Obligatory photos of the very well-dressed, always girlcrush, Emma Stone.
